Derivados de Leche La Esmeralda was founded in 1956 in San Miguel de Allende in the State of Guanajuato, a city that has been named World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. It started operations by selling candy and later began making cheese, cream and butter.

The Algil Group, as it is currently named, produces a series of brands including Esmeralda, El Ciervo, Mariposa, Establo San Miguel, Bel Paese, Select Dairy, Campesina Holandesa and Bon Swiss, just to mention a few.

The Algil Group produces about 180 products, including fresh, semi-hard, aged and processed cheese as well as cream and butter. No other company on the market has the same variety of products that we currently handle.

Some of the major customers that the company has worked with over the years are Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Comercial Mexicana, Costco, Chedraui, Soriana, City Club, Pizza Hut and Dominos Pizza.

Our growth is sustained by investment and latest generation technology machinery to produce and pack our cheese and guarantee quality products for consumers.

The Algil Group is also committed to protecting the environment, which has led to it being named a “Clean Industry” by the State Government.
